Síria. Observatório dos Direitos Humanos luta para manter guerra na agenda internacional

“Numa entrevista à agência Lusa, em Lisboa, Fadel Abdul Ghany sustentou que a guerra na Ucrânia “é mais importante para a Europa”, por se tratar de um país europeu, mas sublinha que no conflito na Síria – que já dura há quase 12 anos – também são atores a Rússia, o Irão e organizações paramilitares como o Grupo Wagner.

“Na Síria, o Governo [do Presidente Bashar al-Assad] comete crimes, além de ter convidado o Irão e a Rússia para o apoiar. (…) Peço que equilibrem um pouco a pressão e deem à Síria nem que seja apenas 10% da atenção que estão a dar à Ucrânia”, apelou Fadel, apelando sobretudo aos países ocidentais.

Também tal como na Ucrânia, Fadel sublinha o envolvimento no conflito sírio do Grupo Wagner, uma organização paramilitar de origem russa, descrito como uma empresa militar privada, “o que torna a situação ainda pior”, pois apoiam um regime que “é ilegal, governa pela força, semelhante ao da Coreia do Norte” — “A mentalidade de al-Assad é a mesma”.
