Mr. Fadel Abdulghany, Executive Director of SNHR, will be speaker in an online dialogue seminar entitled Transitional Justice in Yemen and Syria: Opportunities and Challenges Between Implementation and Preparation which is being held with the participation of a select group of researchers, officials and human rights activists from Syria and Yemen.
Abdulghany will give a presentation focusing on the path of transitional justice in Syria, including where current efforts have reached, the most prominent legal, institutional, political and security challenges that impede effective progress, as well as proposing practical approaches on how to overcome these challenges by ensuring the independence of the judiciary, protecting victims and witnesses, enhancing coordination between national institutions and relevant international bodies, and setting clear priorities for justice, accountability and non-impunity.
